PHNOM PENH, March 25 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The Ministry of Industry, Science, and Technology & Innovation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on technological and innovation cooperation with the Ministry of Technology and Telecommunication of Laos.

It is hoped the agreement will lead to enhanced cooperation and the exchange of experiences.

The MoU was signed on Friday, March 23, as Boviengkham Vongdara, Lao Minister of Technology and Communications, led a delegation to Cambodia.

“Despite the disruptions of the Covid-19 pandemic, our two countries have been able to secure this MoU. It will be the foundation for bolstering relations and cooperation and exchanging experiences with each other. In accordance with the action plans of the leadership of both nations, we will work to improve our technology and innovation,” said Minister of Industry, Science, and Technology and Innovation Cham Prasidh.

He also considered the visit of the Lao delegation the first step in the implementation of the comprehensive cooperation partnership agreement that was made during Prime Minister Hun Sen’s February visit to Laos.

Cambodia is set to host the 1st Cambodia-International Science, Technology & Innovation Expo, where Lao will be exhibiting.

Vongdara appreciated the meeting and the signing of the MoU, saying that it had paved the way for further agreements between the specialised units of both nations.

The Laotian delegation also requested that Cambodia look into the possibility of participating in Lao Digital Week, which is held every year at the beginning of each year.
