TOKYO (The Straits Times/Asia News Network): Japan has mooted allowing its military to shoot down encroaching balloons and unmanned unidentified flying objects (UFOs), with a former defence minister warning on Wednesday (Feb 15) of a “gaping hole” in the country’s security.
This came as Tokyo said for the first time that it “strongly suspects” China of having flown three spy balloons into its airspace since 2019.
