Thailand: Covid-19 emergency lifted as virus declared ‘not dangerous’

The country will end a nationwide state of emergency which was declared in the wake of a Covid-19 outbreak after the South-East Asian nation downgraded the virus from a “dangerous” communicable disease to one that only requires surveillance.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration yesterday agreed to let a state decree enforcing the emergency to expire on Sept 30, Deputy Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha told reporters.
