PHNOM PENH (The Phnom Penh Post/Asia News Network): The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has extended the 2021-2022 academic year, originally scheduled to end on Oct 31, an additional month to Nov 30, citing disruptions in learning in the first half of the year due largely to the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

In a letter dated Aug 22 and addressed to the education departments across the country, minister Hang Chuon Naron said that in order to ensure the quality of students’ education and fill gaps in their learning, the ministry sees the need to delay the academic year by one month.
