MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network): Daily Covid-19 cases dropped for the first time since figures started going up in June although the number of deaths climbed to its highest since May, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday (Aug 22).

Over the past week, it recorded 3,412 daily new infections, 15 per cent lower than the previous week’s 4,001 cases.
