Singapore reports 9,153 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday


SINGAPORE, July 16 (Xinhua): Singapore reported 9,153 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing the total tally to 1,589,099.

Of the new cases, 807 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 8,346 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 762 were local transmissions and 45 were imported cases.

Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 7,929 local transmissions and 417 imported cases, respectively.

A total of 771 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 17 cases in intensive care units.

Three deaths were reported from Covid-19 on Saturday, keeping the total death toll at 1,450, the ministry said. - Xinhua
