Brunei and Singapore enhance digital cooperation

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Brunei and Singapore governments to enhance digital cooperation at the Singapore Ministry of Communications and Information on Monday (May 30).

The MoU signing was among the sideline activities at the Asia Tech X (ATxSG) Summit held from May 31 until June 3.

Signing on behalf of Brunei Darussalam was Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib Mohd Yusof while Singapore was represented by its Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo.

The memorandum sets forth the framework for closer bilateral ties in digital cooperation activities between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore.

It covers activities such as the exchange of knowledge, technical expertise and best practices in the areas of digital connectivity, personal data protection, emerging technologies, digital government, cybersecurity and other areas of mutual interest between both countries.

The MoU will further deepen the existing relations and promote useful exchanges of digital cooperation between the two countries.

Prior to the signing, Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib made a courtesy call onTeo, where the ministers discussed bilateral, regional and international engagements.

The minister is in Singapore to attend the ATxSG Summit.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications) at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Hairul Mohd Daud Abdul Karim; Acting High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Singapore Haji Ahmad Nasri Abdul Latif and senior officials from the MTIC were also present.
