Vietnam eyes doubling of power generation capacity by 2030

HANOI, April 26 (Reuters): Vietnam wants to nearly double its total installed power generation capacity to 146,000 megawatts by 2030, and prioritise development of renewable sources and reducing its coal dependency, its government said on Tuesday.

The latest draft of its power development plan, to be submitted to the prime minister next month, will restrict development of coal-fired power plants and be open to other fuel sources, including hydrogen and ammonia, the government said in a statement.
