Hong Kong to provide HK$10,000 vouchers, tax relief


HONG KONG (China Daily/Asia News Network): The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Wednesday (Feb 23) proposed allocating HK$54 billion (US$6.92 billion) to step up efforts to stabilise the pandemic situation with the central government's support while helping the public with tax breaks and a new round of electronic consumption vouchers.

In his 2022-23 budget speech to the Legislative Council via video link, Financial Secretary Paul Chan (pic) said the government will distribute HK$10,000 in electronic vouchers to 6.6 million residents to alleviate the hardships brought about by the fifth wave of Covid-19 infections and help stimulate the economy.
