Cambodia confirms first local Omicron transmission

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) : Cambodia has reported its first community transmission of Covid-19 Omicron variant from a Phnom Penh resident, the health ministry said.

The 23-year-old man was confirmed to be infected with the Omicron variant in a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test conducted by the Pasteur institute in Cambodia on Saturday, the ministry said in a statement.
