Philippines' daily new Covid-19 cases surges to 2,961 on Friday (Dec 31) during holiday season

MANILA, Dec 31 (Xinhua): The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,961 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections on Friday, pushing the number of confirmed cases in the South-East Asian country to 2,843,979.

The DOH also reported that 132 more people died from Covid-19 complications, bringing the country's death toll to 51,504.
