Separately, another 350,243 people were given their first Covid-19 shot in the last 24 hours, 331,864 their second shot and 24,271 a booster, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered nationwide to 69,923,540.

Thailand ranks 24th in the global list of most cases, which is topped by the US with 46.26 million, followed by India with 34.16 million, Brazil with 21.71 million, the UK with 8.69 million and Russia with 8.17 million.

Because of the current downward trends seen in Covid-19 cases in Thailand, Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced the list of countries and territories permitted to enter Thailand from Nov 1 onward under the government’s plan to reopen the country.

Visitors from the 46 countries, described as low-risk group, may enter Thailand by air without quarantine, provided they have been fully vaccinated and tested negative for Covid-19 prior to arrival. They must also agree to take another test upon arrival.

Curfew will be lifted in 17 provinces, including Bangkok, from October 31 ahead of the November 1 opening.

According to the order, curfew will end at 11pm on October 31 in provinces that are under maximum and strict control but are popular among tourists. - The Nation Thailand/ANN
