Brunei Shell committed to paving opportunities for local businesses


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 16 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) engaged with local businesses to provide wider opportunities through its BSRC Connect Day.

As part of efforts to contribute to the In-Country Value element, the two-day event inculded a series of engagement with i-Usahawan vendors and businesses to discuss available business opportunities with BSRC.

The i-Usahawan businesses must be owned by Brunei Malays aged 21-40, who are without prior contracts with any Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) companies, government and government-linked companies.

Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) In-Country Value Manager Hajah Rosita binti Haji Hassan said the event helped promote options and flexibility of i-Usahawan companies to which entrepreneurship programmes suit them best. The programmes are offered by BSP, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and Shell LiveWIRE Brunei.

Meanwhile, BSRC President Ashraf Esa and Vice President Siti Azzahra Hanafi presented opportunities which are available to the vendors, including bicycle maintenance services, bicycle merchandise shop, gerai kitani, car wash and detailing services and day care operator.

Event management and cleaning services were also presented under Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC).

BSP In-Country Value representative Noradinahayati binti Shahminan also presented a talk on the ‘Introduction to Energy Business Academy’, followed by DARe’s representative Siti Ummi Kalthum binti Othman who highlighted on the many programmes of DARe.

Shell LiveWIRE Brunei conducted a mini boot-camp focussing on Business Model Canvas, led by business counsellors – Mohamad Fadhilullah Tudun bin Haji Hassan and Mohammed Afiq bin Mohammed – to guide start-ups on modelling the right structure of their businesses.
