PHNOM PENH, Jan 31 (Xinhua: An Indonesian man tested positive for Covid-19 upon his arrival to Cambodia from the Philippines, said a Cambodian Ministry of Health (MoH) statement on Sunday.
The 29-year-old man landed in capital Phnom Penh on Friday from the Philippines via a connecting flight in South Korea, the statement said.
"The result of his samples' test showed that the man was positive for the Covid-19, and he is currently undergoing treatment at the National Center for Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control," MoH secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said in the statement.
The remaining 119 passengers on the same flight have been placed under a 14-day mandatory quarantine at various designated quarantine facilities in the capital, she added.
Meanwhile, one Cambodian returnee tested positive for the Covid-19 after having been in a quarantine facility for two weeks since her arrival in the country, said a Ministry of Health (MoH) statement on Saturday (Jan 30).
The new patient is a 37-year-old woman returning from Thailand on Jan. 15 via land border, the statement said, noting that upon her arrival, she tested negative for the virus and had been placed under a 14-day quarantine at a quarantine center along the border.
"On the 14th day of quarantine, her sample was taken for the second test and the result showed that she turned out to be positive for the Covid-19," Vandine said in the statement.
Currently, the patient is undergoing treatment at the Pailin Provincial Referral Hospital, she added.
The South-East Asian country has so far recorded a total of 465 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with zero deaths and 443 recoveries, Vandine said. - Xinhua
