Brunei launches new park in Lumapas

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Aminuddin Ihsan Abidin launched a new recreational park in the Brunei-Muara District on Saturday (Jan 2).

The Bukit Saeh Recreational Park in Kampong Lumapas has four hiking tracks, three of which are challenging, with 16 checkpoints. It also has a bridge, ropes, steps and other amenities.

Following the launch, the minister toured an exhibition and observed a search-and-rescue demonstration before joining a hike.

Bukit Saeh is the highest hill in the district, situated 728m above sea level and located about six kilometres from the capital.

Since the committee’s inception on Sept 22,2020,44 committee members including five women were tasked to handle the administration and welfare of the park, several of which have completed emergency and basic jungle rescue training. - Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network
