BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Various martial arts including Chinese Wushu were demonstrated in Brunei during Martial Arts Open Day on Sunday (Dec 20).

As one of the events organised for the 4th Brunei December Festival (BDF) to promote local tourism and consumption, the Martial Arts Open Day attracted around 400 martial arts performers and local visitors at a recreation park.

Chinese Wushu, Karate, Taekwondo and Silat, a unique form of Malay martial arts were demonstrated by different local martial arts groups.

"As for us, we are honored to be here presenting our Wushu training efforts to local visitors," Li Hui, the Chinese Wushu head coach who guides the Brunei national Wushu team, told Xinhua.

"As local tourism is hit by the global Covid-19 pandemic, this Martial Arts Open Day might be a good way to spread the culture of martial arts and promote local tourism at the same time," he added.

The Brunei government officially launched the 4th BDF on Dec 3, with over 70 exciting events and activities being lined up for locals to experience and enjoy throughout the month-long school holiday season of December.
