School enrolment in the Philippines drops more than 25%

MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN): Enrolment in kindergarten up to senior high school for the school year 2020-2021 dropped more than 25 per cent from a year ago, according to figures from the Department of Education (DepEd).

Private schools registered the biggest decline as more than 300,000 of their students had transferred to public schools this year as the Covid-19 pandemic was ravaging the country’s economy, the DepEd data also showed.
