The ministry cited to the approval made on June 30 by the 20th session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress.
The Laos government is of the view that the implementation of the law will guarantee the security and prosperity of Hong Kong in the long-term.
The government of the Laos has always adhered to and supported the ‘one China policy’ and recognised Hong Kong as a special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China in accordance with the one country, two systems policy, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the construction of the Vientiane station for the Laos-China railway project officially commenced on Friday (July 3) in preparation for the launch of its operations in December 2021.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Xay village, Xaythany district on July 3 for the first station of the megaproject in capital with General Manager of the Laos-China Railway Co Ltd (LCRC), Xiao Qianwen; Director of Laos-China Railway Project Management, Chantoula Phanalasy, and representatives from both nations in attendance.
The 414 km-railway runs from the Laos-China border in Luang Namtha via the provinces of Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, and Vientiane to the capital of Vientiane with 11 passenger and freight stations. It is set to open on Dec 2, 2021. - Vientiane Times/Asian News Network
