Laos reports no increase in Covid-19 cases for 81 days

VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Lao Ministry of Health reported no new cases of Covid-19 for 81 consecutive days.

Sisavath Soutthaniraxay, deputy director general of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control under Lao Ministry of Health, told a press conference here Thursday (July 2)that no new case of Covid-19 was confirmed in Laos for 81 consecutive days.

However, authorities and people countrywide must continue their efforts in implementing preventive measures.

It was essential that every person and all relevant authorities strictly abide by the "new normal" guidelines and rules laid down by the government, Sisavath said.

Laos announced its first two Covid-19 confirmed cases on March 24, and the last patient was discharged on June 9. - Xinhua
