Covid-19: Brunei is free of infections 13 days in a row


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin): Brunei Darussalam continued its streak of no new Covid-19 cases for the 13th consecutive day on Wednesday (May 20) with the national tally remaining at 141.

Currently there are four active cases in the country including two patients who are still in critical condition.

The Covid-19 updates were revealed by Health Minister Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar at the daily press conference at the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Wednesday.

The minister said, “There are no new Covid-19 cases in the country. The number of Covid-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remains at 141.”

He added that there are no cases that have recovered from Covid-19, and the number of recoveries remains at 136. This brings the number of active cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre to four where two are still in critical condition.

One still requires heart-lung machine (ECMO) as well as respiratory assistance, and the other requires respiratory assistance. The rest are in a stable condition.

Dr Mohd Isham said, “Only 12 individuals are undergoing quarantine in accordance to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and 2,667 individuals have completed their quarantine.

“In the past 24 hours, 82 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January to 17,718.” - Borneo Bulletin
