PETALING JAYA: A team of policemen and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) came to The Star’s office on Saturday morning over a news report on the alleged transfer of a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor.
The team consisted of four plain-clothes policemen and two MCMC officers.
They arrived at Menara Star here at about 10.55am to investigate a report in a news portal over deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Shazalee Abdul Khairi who was alleged to have been transferred out of the MACC special operations division.
The Star carried a couple of stories on the alleged transfer. The journalist who wrote the news reports was asked a few preliminary questions by the team.
The police and MCMC are expected to return on Monday to take a statement from the journalist and to take away a computer used to write the stories.
This is to assist investigations under Section 500 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation.
