PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Nazir Razak has given his support to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the wake of recent arrests and transfers of its officers.

“A few good men. Protect their institution, MACC. Allow and encourage them to carry out their duties without fear or favour,” the CIMB group chairman who is also the Prime Minister’s younger brother wrote in a caption of a photo of four MACC key figures in his Instagram account, Sunday.

They four are: MACC chief Tan Sri Abu Kassim, deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull and two MACC directors that were recently transferred out - MACC special operations director Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin and former MACC strategic communications director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob.

To date, seven MACC senior officers and directors have been detained and questioned in the midst of MACC’s own investigation into RM4bil of funds related to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)’s subsidiary.

Bahri, who was among several officers questioned by Bukit Aman police in connection with the leakage of information, was quoted as saying that he vowed to “find perpetrators who are ordering the arrests” of MACC officers.

It is believed the transfer of Rohaizad could be due to his "soft approach" to Opposition leaders when they visited the MACC headquarters on Thursday.

Mohd Shukri has since called for the two officers to be returned, and even offered himself to be transferred instead, as the duo were only acting on his orders.
