KUALA LUMPUR: The budget revision announced by the Prime Minister is timely and realistic, considering the global economic challenges.

Despite the challenging times, it was a relief that no cuts were made to the RM48.5bil set aside for development expenditure, said MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).

“Maintaining the projects is a confirmation that the Government puts the people’s needs first.

“The revisions are also realistic. We have to take into consideration the global economic climate and other challenges as outlined by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” he said.

He added that the assistance for flood-hit areas, especially affected SMEs, was much needed.

“We have to continue to spend prudently and avoid spending on items that are not urgent at the moment,” he said.
