LRT toilet explosion under investigation

KUALA LUMPUR: City CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said police were examining the CCTV footages from the Sri Rampai LRT station where a toilet exploded on Wednesday, injuring a man.

They are looking to identify the last person who entered the men's toilet.

Investigations revealed the explosive was a home made firecracker and not a bomb.

The victim told police that when he entered the bathroom he smelled something burning, which suggested that the firecracker had been lit recently, before the explosion took place.

Police believe the motive was either mischievous or a deliberate act to damage the reputation of the LRT operator.

The victim was released by the hospital on Wednesday itself.
