AIRASIA bagged the top award under the Inter-national League category during the inaugural Pinnacle International Excellence (PIE) Awards 2014 held at the E&O Hotel in Penang.
Its ground operations station head Kenneth Tan said the award was in recognition of the hard work from the loyal staff who were instrumental in making the company’s concept of affordable air travel a success.
“The company is humbled by the award which is dedicated to the staff without whom the company’s recognition in the international arena would not have been possible.
“Our entire focus is on impro-ving our services and staying true to our ‘Everybody Can Fly’ tagline,” he said after receiving the award from Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who was the guest-of-honour at the ceremony on Saturday.
The ceremony also saw other companies from Penang grabbing a number of awards in their respective fields.
Among them were Public Gold for the best Investment award under the National Order Category, Gleneagles Medical Centre (Healthcare category) and Gurney Plaza (Lifestyle Retail category).
Hakka Village in Balik Pulau won the Tourism-Heritage top award while the Fine Dining-Chinese award went to Maple Palace Restaurant, both under the Emerging Class category.
The new international edition award was organised by CHT Network which was also behind the CHT Awards & Ball and the iNPENANG Awards.
Each recipient received a framed certificate and a custom-made PIE Awards trophy designed by artist Ch’ng Huck Theng.
Over 300 people including foreign dignitaries attended the dinner and award ceremony.
