LOCAL high-end jeweller DeGem recently presented a donation of RM43,150 to the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), the fundraising arm of the Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC).

The amount was raised through DeGem’s Wing of Hope campaign that was organised by Lazare Diamonds as part of its CSR efforts.

DeGem is the sole distributor of Lazare Diamonds in Malaysia.

The cheque was presented at DeGem’s flagship store in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, by Group CEO Stephen Choong to MAF honorary secretary Hisham Hussein.

“MAF wishes to thank DeGem and Lazare Diamonds for their strong commitment, support and belief in our cause for the second year running,” said Hisham.

“Proceeds from the Wing of Hope campaign will go a long way to improving treatment, care and support services for women and children living with HIV everywhere.

“We also hope to build on the strength of our existing partnership as we work towards zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths.”

Lazare Kaplan International Inc (SEA) vice-president Laura Chow, who arrived from Hong Kong to attend the ceremony, said: “Lazare Kaplan is delighted that the Wing of Hope campaign, which was rolled out regionally, has received such tremendous response in Malaysia.

“We hope that as a global brand, we are able to use our influence around the world to encourage the culture of always giving back to society – especially to help the less fortunate.”

Also present were Red Ribbon Celebrity ambassadors Dayang Nurfaizah and Shah Shamsiri, who also acted as emcees.
