Parts of squatter settlement may be turned into public housing

KUCHING: Parts of Kampung Kudei here, the site of the city’s largest squatter settlement, might be turned into high-rise public housing.

“That is one of our long-term plans,” Housing Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg told reporters yesterday. “We have our long-term plans, but, some people go there, and say different things,” he said, referring to the Opposition.
