The Beruas Prophecy Author: Iskandar Al-Bakri Publisher: Silverfish Books, 233 pages

ROBERT Fullerton was governor of Penang and the first governor of the Straits Settlements. He definitely figured in my SPM History textbooks although I’m not sure if he gets a mention in the present syllabus. In The Beruas Prophecy by Iskandar Al-Bakri, he is portrayed as an avaricious man whose thirst for power and riches steers his governing style and is at the bottom of his determination to bring Perak under British “protection”.
