Target real Aedes breeding grounds

Stagnant storm-drains: Singapore has clearly acknowledged storm-drains to be a prime Aedes-breeding sites. These will only not breed Aedes if they are large enough for tadpoles to breed.

WITH reference to the report “One-third decrease in dengue deaths” (The Star, Jan 6), let me say the one-third reduction in annual dengue deaths in the country is not a big achievement when you realise that the average number between the years 2008 and 2015 is 89.

Annual fluctuations tend to occur and may not be attributable to vector control activities. But the way I see it, one dengue death is one too many.
