Citilink flight delayed after passengers hit stewardess

JAKARTA: A Citilink flight scheduled to depart from the Kualanamu Airport, Medan, to Jakarta, was delayed for over an hour after a married couple fought and hit a stewardess on duty.

Online media reported that the incident allegedly occurred after the stewardess did not allow the couple to bring their luggage into the cabin as it was overweight.

Deli Serdang Resident Police chief Robert Da Costa was quoted as saying that in the 9am incident, the couple had beaten and pushed the stewardess after she asked them to take out the luggage and keep it in the cargo compartment.

The incident prompted the pilot of the flight QG 0837 to call the airport security guards to take the couple out, saying that the flight would not depart with them onboard.

Robert said the airline company then refunded the couple with no legal action taken against them.

The flight departed for Jakarta at 10.40 am. - Bernama
