Woman drowns while swimming in waterfall in Tangkak

TANGKAK: A 21-year-old woman drowned while swimming in a waterfall at Jalan Sagil-Jementah, Gunung Ledang here.

Tangkak Fire and Rescue Department operation commander senior officer Hairulnizam Ridhuan said that the department received a distress call at 10.35am on Thursday (March 24) and deployed seven men to the location.

“According to the witness, the victim drowned while swimming at the waterfall area. The victim, identified as Nurul Shafiqa Mokhtar, was found at 11.38am and was pronounced dead at the location by the medical team,” he said in a statement.

He added that the body had been handed over to the police for further action.

Tangkak OCPD Supt Mohd Fadhil Minhat has confirmed a police report was lodged over the case, adding that investigations were ongoing.
