Unidentified body found in Ayer Itam apartment

GEORGE TOWN: The body of an unidentified man was found at an apartment in Ayer Itam here.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department’s fire operations and safety officer Nafis Ariff Abdullah said the department received a distress call at around 11am on Friday (Jan 29).

“When the Fire and Rescue team arrived at the scene, it was informed that the door of a unit was locked, and it was feared that there was a body in the house.

“The firefighters broke down the door using rescue tools and found a victim inside the unit.

“It is believed that the victim had died several days ago.

“The body was handed over to the police for further action and the operation ended at 11.16am, ” he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 29).
