Sabah boat mishap: Number of missing revised to six

KOTA KINABALU: The number of missing tourists and crewman on the ill-fated catamaran which was earlier clarified to be five on Monday has been revised to six.  

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din said this was because in the list of names received, there was a name which appeared twice - once in the survivor’s list and the second time in the missing persons' list.  

He said the name Lu Guo Hang appeared in the survivor's list and appeared in the missing persons list as Lu Gua Hang.  

“Two others, a woman and a child around the age of 10, did not register but went on board,” he said.  

This brings the total number of missing Chinese tourists to five.  

“This means we have six more people to look for,” he said here on Tuesday.

The missing Chinese tourists are:  

 

1.  Sheng Jiang Jiang, 50 (male)   

2.  Dong Mei (female)  

3.  Luo Hong Yuan, 51 (male)  

4.  A woman in her 30s

5.  A child believed to be aged 10

 

The missing crewman is:  

1.  Absoy Kasim   

He also said the boat and company owner who was arrested Monday has been remanded until Feb 3.
