KLANG: A Year Two pupil found himself stuck in a 40cm-deep drain at his school here for about 20 minutes after he tried to retrieve his pocket money that had fallen into it.
Sungai Pinang Fire and Rescue station chief Assistant Superintendent Zaidi Ahtan said the incident took place at Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Belah at 1pm on Tuesday.
He said the eight-year-old boy had tried to retrieve his pocket money inside the drain by reaching for it through the grille covering the drain.
"However, the victim then went into the drain after his attempt failed.
"After retrieving his money, he failed to get out of the drain, panicked and started crying.
"Teachers who were alerted about the incident contacted us.
"When we arrived at the scene, we saw the victim stuck on his side in the drain," he said.
Asst Supt Zaidi said the victim was extricated after firemen lifted the grille, and that the boy did not suffer any injuries. – Bernama
