PETALING JAYA: A 40-year-old man was found drowned in a pond at Taman Jaya Lake here Friday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohd Sani Harul said the man, identified as T. Clement, was found floating face down by a passer-by at about 5.15pm.
“A team of scuba divers were immediately deployed to the scene. We arrived about less than 10 minutes after receiving the call,” he said.
The victim, who worked as a lorry driver for an English daily’s distribution department, was fished out of the lake at about 5.35pm.
“The body has been handed over to the police for the next course of action,” he said.
Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said a missing person’s report was lodged by the victim’s wife on Thursday.
The body has been sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.
The case has been classified as sudden death.
