Big Bad Wolf visits Johor

JOHOR BARU: The Big Bad Wolf book sale made its way to the state, hoping to catch some 75,000 visitors for its nine-day event.

Book Xcess Sdn Bhd marketing executive K. Ruebni said that more than 500,000 books on a wide range of topics were brought in from its warehouse in Kuala Lumpur for its first sale here.

“We will continue to replenish the books if the stock decreases rapidly during the sale period. However, this will depend on demand and stock availability,” she said.

Besides locals, Ruebni said it also hoped to target the Singaporean market.

“We have many school reference books. We even brought in numerous books based on the Singaporean syllabus to cater for visitors from the republic,” she said, adding that the books were going for as low as RM3 each.

She said the books were a lot cheaper at the sale compared to other bookstores as they had been printed in excess.

“Many people think that our books are cheaper because they have been rejected. These books are actually printed in excess and we buy them in bulk,” she said.

The annual Big Bad Wolf sale, she said, has been a hit in Kuala Lumpur since it started in 2009.

“This year, we are trying to reach out to customers in other states, including Penang, Pahang and Malacca,” said Ruebni.

The sale at Danga City Mall Expo ends on June 2.
