Toddler dies from alleged abuse by mother

A three-year-old toddler died after he was allegedly abused by his mother while his twin brother suffered from internal injuries. The alleged abuse was exposed when the 24-year-old suspect brought the deceased, who was unconscious at that time, to Hospital Kajang for emergency treatment on Jan 9. The victim was certified dead at the hospital and doctors found symptoms of possible child abuse. According to a source, there was a bruise on the victim's left forehead, the stomach was swollen and the rectum was protruding from the anus. The hospital subsequently lodged a report at the Kajang police station, which led to the arrest of the suspect and her boyfriend on the same day. Further medical checks conducted on the surviving twin brother found that his rib was fractured, while their nine-month-old baby sister was underweight and has jaundice. The couple has been remanded for four days since Jan 10 and is expected to be charged in court on Monday.
