> Johor police investigation male escort scam
Johor police are investigating a syndicate involving a "match-making agency" based in the state capital, which offers jobs as male escorts to accompany rich female clients. It was earlier reported that the syndicate would cheat deposit money from young men and college students who were interested to join the agency as escorts. The syndicate lured its victims by offering to pay between RM3,500 and RM4,000 for each escort service. However, the victims must first register themselves and pay RM1,500 deposit for the non-existent job. More than 10 victims have lodged police reports in the Klang Valley. State CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said no cases have been reported yet in Johor but police were tracking down the mastermind behind the syndicate.
