A female reporter of Dutch news channel EenVandaag has apologised for going through the personal items of MH17 victims. Caroline van den Heuvel was criticised after she was seen reading a diary belonging to one of the passengers in a news broadcast on Monday. The editorial board published the apology on its website, stating that Heuvel's action went too far but her intention was to "describe the chaos as accurately as possible."

While Terengganu has announced this Sunday as a public holiday for the Hari Raya celebration, it will be a normal working day in both Kelantan and Johor. Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the decision was made after taking into consideration various viewpoints and public interest. If Sunday is made a holiday, the five-day holiday stretch from Friday to Tuesday would be too long, he explained.
