Penalty for organisers who don’t clean up venues

THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) will start chargingdeposits for private events from Jan 1 next year and forfeit the money should the organisers fail to clean up the venues after the events.

MBPP Licensing and Public Health Standing Committee alternate chairman Ong Ah Teong said the council was introducing the deposit payment as it found that some organisers did not clean up after their events and left the venues littered with rubbish.
