KUALA LUMPUR: The court order for a former model charged with committing an obscene act by stripping in public last April to undergo mental observation has been extended for another month.

Magistrate Nur 'Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor made the decision after granting an application by Tanjung Rambutan Hospital, Perak for more time to prepare the mental health report on Persana Avril Sollunda, 33.

The magistrate set Aug 3 for re-mention but said the case could be brought forward if the report could be completed earlier.

Deputy public prosecutor Noor Svetlana Mohd Noor Nordin and counsel Muhammad Nor Izzat Nordin did not object to the hospital's application.

The accused was not brought to court for today's proceeding but her younger brother was present.

Persana Avril allegedly committed the offence at a chicken rice shop in Jalan Petaling here, on April 23.

The charge under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code, carries a maximum three months' jail or a fine, or both, upon conviction. - Bernama
