Johor declares March 23 public holiday replacing Nov 22

JOHOR BARU: The Johor government announced March 23 as an annual public holiday from this year in place of Nov 22 which has been the public holiday in conjunction with the birthday of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim.

"This means the birthday of the Sultan of Johor will now be celebrated on March 23 and no longer on Nov 22," said Johor state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim.

The state government had declared March 23 this year as a public holiday in conjunction with the coronation of the sultan. The public holiday on Nov 22 is to be withdrawn.

Ismail told reporters the state government had gazetted March 23 as a public holiday and was in the process of withdrawing the Nov 22 public holiday. - Bernama
