Five PKR leaders claim phones were hacked

KAJANG: PKR has denied that its top leaders sent out text messages damaging to Pakatan Rakyat, claiming that their mobile phones have been hacked.

They are deputy president Azmin Ali, vice-pr.esidents Tian Chua and Nurul Izzah Anwar, Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mat Akin and deputy Selangor speaker Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

The leaders discovered about the hacking after being notified about text messages sent criticising the party's allies DAP and PKR over the handling of the Kajang by-election.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, in a statement, said the party had never sent out such text messages that would destroy the alliance.

"The party condemns this dirty tactics used by irresponsible quarters who have malicious intent in creating animosity among the component parties," he said.

The hacking has resulted in text messages being sent out from certain leaders, among others, criticising PAS for not helping out with the campaigning in Kajang. 

Kajang by-election, scheduled to be held on March 23, will see a straight fight between PKR's candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Barisan Nasional's candidate Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.

The state seat fell vacant following the resignation of its PKR assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh on Jan 27.
