PETALING JAYA: DAP vice-chairman Teresa Kok was greeted with a nasty surprise during a ceramah late Wednesday night, when a stranger handed her a rotten egg, which broke when they shook hands.
Kok said the man had approached her after she had explained her controversial 'Onederful Malaysia' Chinese New Year video during a ceramah in Permatang Pauh, and shook her hand with an egg in his palm.
The spoiled egg stained the Seputeh MP's hands and clothes.
In an SMS to The Star, Kok said after the incident, which occurred at around 11.30pm, she washed her hands and left the site.
"I went back to the hotel right after the incident.
"The guy walked away and was nabbed by PAS' Unit Amal and the audience.
"I don't know what happened to him," she said.
Kok's CNY video attracted negative attention for poking fun at issues such as the education system when it was released last January.
In February, a group of people claiming to be part of the Council of Muslim NGOs offered a RM500 reward to anyone who slapped her, which was later raised to RM1,200.
On Wednesday, the police recommended that the two men allegedly behind the cash bounty be charged with criminal intimidation.
