KUANTAN: Burglars broke into the house of state executive councillor Datuk Shahiruddin Ab Moin in Jalan Medan Tok Sira here and carted away goods worth about RM10,000 on Saturday.

The break-in was discovered by his 23-year-old son who arrived from Kuala Lumpur at 3.05am.

Kuantan police chief ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said the son saw the kitchen door ajar while the roof tiles were ripped off.

"He also found household items scattered in all the rooms while a 60-inch LCD television in the living room and a video player in his bedroom were missing," Mohd Jasmani told Bernama.

The son, who is studying at a private college, lodged a report at about 5am.

Mohd Jasmani said the burglars were believed to have entered the house from the roof and left through the kitchen door by forcing open the grill.

"The police found fingerprints believed to be that of the burglars," he said.

No one was home during the break-in.

Shahiruddin, who is state cooperatives, entrepreneurship and consumerism committee chairman, and Dong assemblyman, was visiting his constituency with his family.
