The action of some high-ranking custom officers over intentionally delaying payment for informants has discouraged them from providing vital information to the authorities. According to a source, these custom officers were discreetly sabotaging efforts to curb smuggling activities as they had allegedly received bribes from the black market to turn a blind eye on their vice activities. Some informants were purportedly not paid their rewards for up to four years.
