LONDON: Teenage rising star Rory McIlroy was included Monday in the Great Britain and Ireland team to face the United States in the Walker Cup amateur golf event next month in his native Northern Ireland.
McIlroy, 18, the winner of the silver medal for the leading amateur at the British Open at Carnoustie last month, is sure to receive plenty of home support during the Walker Cup, which takes place at the Royal County Down course, south of Belfast, on Sept 8-9.
