ATP tried to dupe me into refusing dope test, says Hewitt

SYDNEY: Lleyton Hewitt has accused the body that runs the world tennis tour of persecuting him for years, at one point allegedly trying to dupe him into refusing a drug test in a ploy that would have copped him a two-year playing ban, it was reported yesterday.

The Melbourne Age said Hewitt, currently the world's number two player, made the allegations in papers filed this week in an Australian court as part of a US$1.5mil defamation suit against the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
