Jitters for Jimmy in training after robbers break into his house

Good defending: Selangor’s Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee (right) will be assessed whether he can play in the game against Negri Sembilan on Sunday.

PETALING JAYA: It’s hard to get past Selangor centreback Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee in defence. But that’s on the field.

Off it, he has been left feeling defenceless.

Burglars broke into his house on Wednesday evening while he was training with the state squad, and stole his motorcycle, four sling bags and passports of his family members.

The robbers came in an MPV but one of them rode away on his Yamaha Y15 motorcycle.

The 31-year-old, who also plays for the national team, said he had lodged a police report and has been getting regular updates from the authorities on the case. However, he is hesitant to go back to his residence.

“I do not know if I will go back to the house. I do not feel safe now. Truth be told, I have not slept at all. I will train for the game against Negri Sembilan on Sunday but I will be assessed by the coaches and management,” said the player fondly known as Jimmy,

“I am concerned because they have my family details, as they have the passports. I hope things will be solved soon.”

Selangor manager Mahfizul Rusydin said the club are doing everything they can to help Khuzaimi and his loved ones.

“For now, we feel the most important thing is the safety of his family. We are taking steps to ensure Jimmy’s safety,” he said.

As for the game against the Deer at the Petaling Jaya Stadium, he said the player would be assessed until match day.

“I spoke to him. He has settled down but a little fear is there. His mind is on the game and he has been at the training sessions and hopefully will be ready on matchday.”

“We will see what extra measures he needs. Whatever happened to Jimmy and the other footballers, I hope no speculation is made. We do not want any controversies. We do not like this bad reputation for the sport in Malaysia.

The burglary is the second major event to rock the Selangor camp. The biggest one happened on May 5 when star player Faisal Halim suffered an acid attack at a shopping mall in Damansara.

The national footballer has undergone several surgeries and is still in hospital and may not be back in action until August.

A photofit of the suspect has been revealed by the police and CCTV footage of the incident also went viral on social media.

Just days before the attack, his Harimau Malaya teammate Akhyar Rashid was robbed in Kuala Terengganu and suffered cuts and bruises. On May 7, former national captain Safiq Rahim escaped unhurt after two men broke his car’s rear windscreen in Johor Baru.
