The country needs more skilled workers to ensure that the dependency on foreign workers can be reduced, said Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam. He said there were 1.5 million registered foreign workers in the country and that the long-term plan was to ensure more training skills were provided to the locals to ensure that they could take over the task from the foreigners. He said the Government would continue to focus on training and educating workers without tertiary education to ensure that they get jobs and contribute to the country's development.
